Police Cadet Post
The Two Rivers Police Cadet Post (formerly Police Explorers) is a volunteer organization made up of young men and women (from throughout Manitowoc County) ages 14-20 yrs. old who have an interest in a Law Enforcement career. The organization is sponsored by the Two Rivers Police Department and is part of a new national non-profit organization called Public Safety Cadets, which is founded and managed by active and retired law enforcement officers and business leaders from throughout the US.
At meetings, which occur twice a month, Cadets receive training in various police functions, and receive presentations from professionals in the criminal justice community. Some topics include but not limited to Traffic Stops, Crime Scene, Disturbances, Tactical Movements/Room clearing, Firearms, Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT), and more.
Cadets serve their community by donating hundreds of volunteer hours every year to community functions by serving as aides to the police department. They take part in crime prevention programs, play the role of McGruff the crime dog, run games for kids, help set up barricades and direct traffic, post signs, and assist officers at special events.
Cadets also experience tours and presentations of different law enforcement agencies such as police departments, jails, dispatch centers, courthouses, FBI, Secret Service, Crime Labs, etc.. In addition they take part in competitions against other Cadet Posts from across the State and Nation.
As if all that weren't enough they also get to participate in fun events such as bowling, cookouts, movies, baseball games, and other fun events. By being a Cadet they may also earn points to participate in the Police Department's ride along program.
The program is an exciting way for young adults to socialize with like-minded individuals and learn about a possible career field in the Criminal Justice system.
