Smongeski Eyeglasses Fund
Assisting Two Rivers Families for 54 Years with Eye Exams and Glasses
The A.L. Smongeski Health Fund, created through a bequest from one of Two Rivers’ native sons, has helped fund eye exams and glasses for local children between the ages of five and sixteen since 1969. The Smongeski Fund assists families in financial need with the cost of vision exams and or eye wear to $150.00 per calendar year, and after insurance payment, if applicable.
Applications for assistance through the Smongeski Fund can be obtained from the Two Rivers City Manager’s Office (920-793-5532 or email clerk@two-rivers.org. The application must be approved prior to making an appointment for a vision exam. It is a simple, one-page form that takes about three minutes to complete and is approved in one to two business days, then a verification form is mailed to the applicant. Most area vision practices will direct-bill the City for its share of the bill, if presented with this verification form.
While the Smongeski Fund has assisted hundreds of Two Rivers families through the years, its fund balance is a healthy $173,000, so there is no reason for qualified local families to go without assistance.
We expect Smongeski, whose generosity has now benefited five generations of Two Rivers children, would be pleased.
