Planning & Zoning

The City Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for land use decisions under the guidance of the Plan Commission.  The decisions are to help create a community of value to residents, businesses, and visitors.  Staff activities include the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, the land subdivision code (Certified Survey Maps and plats), Zoning Code (site plans and rezonings) and future land use planning. 

The Planning and Zoning Department also provides services for residents and developers within the City by providing information about land use requirements for proposed residential and commercial projects. The zoning ordinance provides property standards in addition to the land regulations to shape development based on the City’s Comprehensive Plan and other specific area plans.
